This is the first time we have come across this type of Buddhist pottery from the north of Thailand. This handmade earthenware is really striking.
In this case, we have a very large pottery turtle who’s back is absolutely covered in a myriad of individually stamped votive tablets of Buddha. Depicted are different styles of classic votive tablets produced in clay for hundreds of years in Thailand. A really special piece.
Small imperfections in a sculpture like this should be expected.
