Thai khon mask – 2 designs available
Thai khon mask
These Thai khon masks are used in performance in Thailand – a dance-based drama based on the story of the Ramakian – the Thai version of the Ramayana.
The masks are built up from layers of papier mache and plaster, along with carved wood. All hand painted and decorated with gold leaf.
Please note these masks are made for decorative purposes only and include a wall mount at the rear (removable).
Please do not purchase these in order to wear them, as they are not going to be comfortable and probably won’t fit a Western head very well! Professional performers’ masks can be made to measure, and are designed to be more comfortable to wear than these.

There are now very few traditional makers of these masks in Thailand remaining.
