A spirit house is a common sight in Thailand in domestic settings, commercial premises and temple sites. The house provides shelter for the spirits of that place, in the belief this will mean less problems for the inhabitants if the spirits are appeased. Small votive offerings are often left for the spirits ranging from food to figurines.
